A Whirlwind

And I am not talking about the weather. I am talking about the visit with my mother and cousin. They flew in Thursday night (very late) for a weekend in Chicago. Sarah's Confirmation is what brought them here but we tried to fit in as much as we could especially since my cousin had never been to Chicago before (hard to believe). After the kids went to school on Friday we headed downtown for a three hour tour. We were along the lakefront, by the Bean (of course)
strolling along State Street after taking a quick ride on Lake Shore Drive. It was easy to decide where to take them to lunch.
A one of a kind Chicago tradition. We enjoyed the atmosphere and had lots of laughs.
We even got our drinks to go!! We got home just in time to pick up the kids from school, pick up a few last minute items for Sarah before heading off to see Matthew pole vaulting.
He now has a new personal best of 10' 6". Unfortunately we were not able to take any pictures at Sarah's soccer game later in the evening since it was pouring rain and freezing cold! A hot shower and some fresh pizza were just the cure for my cold and wet player.

Saturday began with some baking, and running a quick errand before heading off to church. Sarah and her godmother were ready for the upcoming ceremony.
The church was decorated beautifully in red, the music was lively and the Bishop eager to talk with each student.
Sarah received the gift of the Holy Spirit with her Godmother by her side. It couldn't have been more perfect. I am so thankful to have such a loving and caring family. Nana must be smiling!

We celebrated the day with dinner and a cake but only after Uncle Deacon Tom blessed the Bible my mother gave Sarah (I actually had holy water in the house).

It all went by too fast because before I knew it, it was time head to the airport and say goodbye. We are now looking forward to Cape Cod this summer!!
