The String of Spikes was a bit of a challenge because the directions given to Colin were not as detailed as they could have been, but with a phone call and some extra time we were able to see how water is attracted to drier things, such as string, by dissolving baking soding in glasses of water, placing the weighted string in each glass and then letting it sit for two days. After the two days, we could see bubbles (that were made with the baking soda) clinging to the string. Success!
Another Friday the 13th!
This time Colin was affected by the unlucky day. He went to baseball practice and came home with a bruised nose. He had gotten hit right between the eyes with a baseball (and this only the second practice). We are looking forward to the three and a half month baseball season.
The Giant Pickle
I couldn't resist getting the giant pickle for Matthew (my pickle lover) when I saw it at the grocery store today. It wasn't in a giant jar like they used to have them, but it was irresistable nonetheless. He was delighted. It was worth the 70 cents!
Southside Irish Parade Day
Time to go to Grama's house! It was corned beef and cabbage enough for an army (there probably weren't any leftovers). It was such a beautiful day, there was some tailgaiting going on in the driveway while the kids rode bikes, played tether ball, did their best irish jig and played hide and seek. This was a new addition to the day, as I don't ever remember tailgaiting before. There was green all around no matter how big or small. Here is just a sample.
And on to another basketball game.This was Matthew's last home game at school and the gym was decorated beautifully. The team had a great game and is headed to another championship game next Sunday. Go Raiders!
Chili all over.
